The train station is located in the center of Ostend. The first station in Ostend was opened in 1838, but the station that is in use now was opened in 1913. The station has frequent InterCity trains serving Brugge railway station, Gent-Sint-Pieters, Brussels South and Liège-Guillemins. There are also connecting InterCity trains to Antwerp and Kortrijk.
Connected to the railway station is the Coast Tram, which connects the cities and towns along the entire Belgian (West Flanders) coast, between De Panne near the French border and Knokke-Heist near the Dutch border. The Coast Tram is an easy and fun way to travel between these coastal cities.
